Christmas is just around the corner… but can we really call it party season this year? Whether we’re forced to stay in or can go for casual drinks with friends, nothing’s going to stop us from doing our christmas party makeup!

If you’re stuck for makeup inspiration, we’re here to help. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite trends and techniques so you can create the perfect festive look to wow your friends and family – or people at the supermarket at least.

We’ll cover the 3 main areas of makeup: face, eyes and lips. So you can add a festive touch to each step in your makeup routine. Let’s get started![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Face

The face is undoubtedly one of the most important steps to nailing your christmas party makeup. This is where you lay the foundations for the rest of your makeup to sit on – so you need to ensure it’s perfection.

Moisturiser

When it comes to the colder seasons, our skin can start to feel dryer so it’s essential to moisturise frequently and hydrate your skin. Moisturise just as you get out of the shower, as this is when your pores are open so your moisturiser will penetrate deeper into your skin.

Foundation

Likewise, if you’re using a mattifying foundation maybe it’s time to switch to a more dewy formula. This will help to hide dry patches of skin as a liquid or cream foundation will add more sheen to camouflage any flakiness.

Bronzer and Blush

Once you’ve nailed your foundation and concealer, it’s essential to add colour and life back into the face. Gorgeous rosey and coral blushes will give you a youthful glow when applied to the apples of the cheeks and a little across the nose. Plus, bronzer isn’t just for the summer if you want a healthy glow all year round. Contour with a warm bronzer around the cheekbones, forehead and jawline to bring plenty of colour to your face.

Highlight

It’s party makeup after all, so the perfect way to finish off your glam look is with a beautiful highlighter. Make sure you choose the right kind of highlighter for your skin tone – gold works well with warm tones and silver works well with cool tones. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Eyes

When it comes to eye makeup, you need to choose whether you want a bold look or a more subtle approach. This can change the whole vibe of your party makeup so it’s important to plan it out before you get started.

Brows

Nailing your eyebrows is an essential step to bringing your makeup look together. We recommend filling in your eyebrows before starting on your eyeshadow. Keep it natural by creating fine lines with a brow powder or gel to imitate the look of hairs. Once you’re happy with how they look, carve out and neaten the brows with a light concealer – drag this all over the eyelid to create a blank canvas base for your eyeshadow.

Eyeshadow

Christmas is a time when you can have lots of fun with your eyeshadow. During party season, it’s all about the glitters and the golds so don’t be afraid to go bold. Diamantes have been super on trend this year, thanks to Euphoria, and they’re a great way to take your eye makeup to the next level.

In terms of eyeshadow shades, we recommend warm browns, golds and nudes for this time of year if you want to keep it classic. But on the flipside, cool blues, greys and whites are perfect for creating an icy look.

Lashes

The perfect way to finish off any eye makeup look is with a gorgeous pair of fluttery lashes. Choose your eyelashes depending on the effect you’re trying to achieve. For example, if you want more of a cat eye look to elongate the eye, apply lashes on the outer corners only. Or if you want to open the eyes and create a doll effect, opt for a big pair of fluffy lashes that cover the whole eyelid.

Lips

Perfecting your lips is the finishing touch to your party makeup. Again, you can have fun with different colours and textures – but you need to make sure it aligns with the rest of your makeup.

Lip Liner

Lip liner is your best friend if you’re looking to create the illusion of bigger lips. Whether you’re creating a nude or bold lip, you can always use lip liner to enhance the look. Choose either a matching or darker shade of lip liner to your lipstick – never go lighter. Using a steady hand, trace the natural shape of your lips or slightly overline, to create the perfect framework for your lipstick to sit in.

Lipstick

Of course, a red lip is the go to look for christmas. If you want to nail this classic party makeup look, you need patience and precision. First off, choose the right shade of red – do you want a darker lip or a classic coral red? Once you’ve decided, take a small lip brush and dip into your lipstick – applying with a brush will produce a neater finish. Fill in the lips from the outside in, taking your time and fixing any mistakes as you go.

Once the lips are filled in, take a concealer around the edge of your lips to create an extra neat finish. To increase lasting power, apply a translucent powder over the top, then apply another layer of the lipstick. If you want a more subtle look, lipgloss is a great way to add more sparkle to your party makeup and create a natural girly finish. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
